Today we went to the Grand Canyon National Park, which means we got to see one of the seven natural wonders of the world. After getting very excited on the bus ride, we finally arrived after about an hour. Right after our arrival we went hiking on the Bright Angel Trail. We took a lot of pictures and had a great time! Hiking down the Trail was pretty easy, but when we had to walk back up, it got really exhausting. However, we had a lot of fun and felt very accomplished!
That’s why many students got a t-shirt according to their adventure.
“I hiked, dragged myself, complained, nearly passed out and barely made it out of the Canyon”
During the afternoon, we were free to walk around the area on the top of the canyon. I had the privilege to watch a traditional dance from the Navajo tribe, a Native American tribe. There was a speaker from the tribe teaching people about the history and beliefs of the tribe. For me that was a very interesting cultural experience, and it help people to see that the American history was very rich even before the coming of the Europeans.
The Grand Canyon is just phenomenal. It’s not just a hole in the ground -it’s beautiful. I was really impressed. The view from the Mojave Point was especially amazing. When you stand up there, spread out your arms you just feel like you’re the king of the world, just free.
